Ceremony held to remember VE Day and deceased war veterans from M’Chigeeng

Sergeant Wayne Golden called the Charles. C. Golden Ceremonial Rifle Team in action to fire a three-volley salute at the VE Day ceremony, held in M’Chigeeng on May 8.

M’CHIGEENG—The War Pensioners of Canada (WPC) and the Charles C. Golden Ceremonial Rifle Team gathered at the M’Chigeeng First Nation cemetery at 11 am on Tuesday, May 8 in remembrance of VE (Victory in Europe) Day and to honour all deceased veterans in the cemetery.

The ceremony opened with Comrade Roy Eaton paying tribute to veterans of all wars, followed by Sergeant Wayne Golden calling the rifle team into action to fire a three-volley salute.

Comrade Roy Eaton then played reveille, followed by silence and the Act of Remembrance.

The ceremony concluded with Comrade Colin Pick thanking all veterans for participating and all First Nations members for attending.
