KAGAWONG—Billings township council has passed its 2016 budget, which will see no increase in the municipal tax rate for this year.
Billings Clerk Kathy McDonald told council at its meeting this past Monday that the budget includes “$120,000 that has been put into reserves, and a portion of that can be taken out for our asset management plan, with the rest left in reserve.”
Ms. McDonald pointed out the township has been approved to receive expert assistance on updating its asset management plan through the Ministry of Finance Officers Association of Ontario.
“This assistance is a good step towards where we need to go in terms of the future of our buildings and what needs to be done,” Ms. McDonald told council at a previous council meeting.
The budget also includes an estimated cost of $15,000 to go towards the township having a new parking lot built that is being carried out curb traffic parking on the sides of the highway close to Bridal Veil Falls.
Council passed a motion passing its 2016 budget, which includes $121,000 in reserves and a zero percent increase in municipal tax rates.
