Assiginack brews up some haunted happenings this month

MANITOWANING—Manitowaning is looking forward to hosting its first Haunted Ride on the evening of Saturday, October 21 from 7 to 9 pm.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Cambrian Insurance, Manitou Magic will be performing his magic show at 6:30 pm while the kids wait to go on the Haunted Ride. The spooky rides leave Assiginack arena starting at 7 pm for a cost of $2 per person. The route will be filled with many opportunities to scare you! Return time undisclosed, riders beware!

On Sunday, October 22, the Pumpkin Fest will take place from 12 to 3 pm. Starting off with Stefano Presenza, a Sudbury magician, from 12-1 pm, again thanks to Cambrian Insurance. Face painting, pumpkin shooting, hay bale throwing, and kids’ activities will run from 1-2:30 pm. All ages pumpkin-themed contests include Pumpkin Loaf Baking and Paper Mache Pumpkins; cash prizes will be awarded so be sure to submit your best entry.

In conjunction with Harvest Glory Days is a Best Decorated House and Best Decorated Business contest with six cash prizes up for grabs. Vendors will be on site selling their wares and Knox United Church will have lunch available to purchase. The day ends with the Pumpkin Catapult with $500 up for grabs. There is no cost to get into the Pumpkin Festival.
