Peacefully with family at her side Anne Marie Jaffray Strain passed away at Pioneer Manor in her 89th year. Daughter of the late Robert Taylor Jaffray and Ethel Annie Boyd. Anne was born and raised on Manitoulin Island. Anne was the adored wife and best friend of William Kirk Strain who predeceased her in 1999. Dearly loved mother of Carol and her husband Merv Lennox. Predeceased by her cherished son Bob in 1969. Proud Nana of Krista Lennox-Fryd and her husband Brian, and Ryan Lennox and his wife Christine (Reed). Survived by her three precious great-granddaughters, Gracey Fryd and Morgan and Madison Lennox. Anne was closely connected to her special cousins in the Boyd and Jaffray families and will be remembered with love by the Strain and Riching families, and many close friends. Anne was a people person who always had a kind word, a warm smile and a keen sense of humour. She was a woman of faith, a member of All Saints Anglican church in Gore Bay and later the Church of the Ascension in Sudbury. Anne worked for twenty years in Sudbury as a clerk with Canada Post and was a favourite of customers at both the downtown and new Sudbury locations. Anne was an animal lover and with her husband Kirk enjoyed many years raising standard bred race horses at their “Lone Goose Stables” in Valley East. Anne enjoyed curling, golfing, travelling, music and live theatre. She was a great cook, even better baker, and loved to share her food and her hospitality. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her and she will live always in our hearts. The family wish to express their thanks to the special people at Pioneer Manor who so lovingly cared for Anne in her final years. Visitation was at Culgin Funeral Home on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 7 pm to 9 pm with funeral service on Saturday, June 1, at 11 am in the W.G. Turner Chapel. Rev. Paul Walmsley officiated.
