Andrew William “Bill” Ferguson passed away suddenly at the Mindemoya Hospital on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the age of 72. Bill worked for INCO, the Manitoulin Board of Education, and owned Silver Birches Resort for over 30 years. Lifetime member of The Manitoulin Tourism Association. His passion was flying and he logged thousands of hours in his different airplanes. Bill loved Manitoulin Island (Haweater) and his family and friends. If you became Bill’s friend, you became his friend for life. In recent years he wintered in Englewood, Florida. Predeceased by beloved wife Betty. Survived by loving partner Kathleen Dougherty. Cherished father of daughters Beth (Joe Ruzicka) of San Diego, and Jennifer of Halifax, NS. Proud grandfather of two grandchildren Emma Elizabeth Ruzicka and Andrew Joseph Ruzicka. Dear brother of Ken (Linda), Jim (Linda), and Mary Lynn Sorel (Gerry). Loved by Kathleen’s son Jonathan Bibler. Missed by Kathleen’s father James (Marilyn) Dougherty. Missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Remembered by brother-in-law Doug McCorkindale (Irene predeceased) and sister-in-laws Joan Kennedy (Ian) and Brenda Colburn (Rob). Bill will be greatly missed by his canine friend Pilot. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Island Funeral Home. Funeral Service at 2 pm Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Little Current United Church with Rev. Faye Stevens officiating. Interment in Green Bay Cemetery.
