A celebration of Canada Day in poetic form

OUR COUNTRY

“By the Numbers”

Three oceans adjoin us,
Three fathers precede us.
Two mighty neighbours
Monitor us,
By land and by sea.
 One glorious homeland,
Unfaltering are we.
Half of a continent,
Steadfast and free.

O
Multi cultured
Multi coloured
Multi natured
CANADA!

“We stand on guard for thee.”

Notes: Three oceans adjoining us: Pacific, Arctic, Atlantic.
Our three founding fathers: Aboriginal, French, English.
Our neighbours: USA (by land) and Russia (by sea) are, arguably, the world’s two most powerful nations.
‘O Canada’ was proclaimed Canada’s national anthem on July 1st 1980, one hundred years after it was first sung on June 2, 1880.
