GORE BAY—Gore Bay was the place to be for youngsters this past Saturday as the Gore Bay District Fish and Game Club (GBFGC) held a very successful kids fun day celebration!
“Your Gore Bay fish and Game Club is awesome,” one youngster told the Recorder. “This is so much fun!”
Kids of virtually all ages had the opportunity to catch a fish at the GBFGC fish pond event. The Gore Bay/Gordon volunteer fire department provided the water tank-pond for the club to set up and use at the Ron McQuarrie Pavilion. And, Mike Meeker had donated many fish towards the event for kids to catch during the afternoon.
A total of 75 children got to fish, and along with their parents, grandparents, and friends were able to partake in free hot dogs, treats from Tim Hortons, coffee or hot chocolate during the day.
“On behalf of the Gore Bay District Fish and Game Club we would like to thank everyone for coming out today to take part in this fun day,” said club member Ian Anderson.
Many of the youngsters caught fish, but regardless, it was evident from the smiles and laughter of both the youngsters and adults alike that everyone had a great time.
At the end of the day, three prizes were handed out to the youngsters on hand who had the winning tickets, with each participant having signed in for the event being presented with a numbered ticket.
