Aanii everybody! Hope you enjoyed last week’s article. Now I hope you enjoy this one! Two more school days until the Outside Looking In program leaves for two weeks. The students in this program will do our community and school proud when they perform on the Sony Centre stage in Toronto on May 13.
Track and Field season is officially starting up. Students are able to sign up now and they will be starting to practice every Tuesday and Thursday. Some of the students who will be participating are: Dehmin Eshakawkogan doing triple jump, high jump and 100m run, Delani Trudeau doing triple jump and shot put, Matthew Oshkawbewisens doing triple jump, Andre Rivers and Harmony Rivers doing triple jump. It’s not too late for anyone to sign up! Coach Recollet is open for anybody joining. On Wednesday, May 20, the Warriors will be heading off to compete at NSSSA, which is being held at Elliot Lake Secondary School. So good luck Warriors and practice hard!
The Wikwemikong Board of Education has launched its brand new website! If you’d like to take a look, the address is http://wbe-education.ca. Go check it out. The newly vamped up website teaches a lot about our school; it shows our upcoming events, athletic policy, and a bunch of other great things. It even shows our school’s vision statement which is: “Promoting lifelong learning and academic success guided by Anishinabe world views Niigaan Naabing Ezhi-waawiindamaageng.” You could read about our principal, Mick Staruck, or the Director of the WBE, Mr. Dominic Beaudry. Not only does the new website talk about the high school, it talks about the other schools on our reserve: The Hub Centre, Junior School and Pontiac School. This is a great opportunity for family members, students and others to learn more about our school system and what’s going on.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week. Bye for now!
