Writing desk and free stationery available for spontaneous writing

Visitors invited to use writing station for overdue correspondence at Handwritten Arts Festival

GORE BAY—When was the last time you picked up a pen and wrote a “thinking of you letter” or a thank you note? Well, now you have the chance to revive your handwriting skills. During the Handwritten Arts Festival at the Gore Bay Harbour Centre, July 22 to 24, a writing desk with free stationery will be set up on the second floor inviting visitors to sit down and dash off a card or letter to anyone in their address book. Stamps have also been donated for the spontaneous writing opportunity.

The writing station is part of the 10th anniversary celebration for the Manitoulin Writers’ Circle. Local writers have been creating handwritten arts since September 2015 as a way to preserve long-abandoned cursive script. Samples of vintage and modern handwriting will be exhibited during Gore Bay Harbour Days so be sure to stop in.
