Asks for MPP to introduce banning bill
EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is an open letter to Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha and has been reprinted here at the author’s request.
Dear Mr. Mantha:
I am sure that you have heard about the complaints here on Manitoulin Island regarding the use of gill nets and the finding of hundreds of fish in, on Lake Wolsey.
I would like you and your party introduce a bill banning the use of gill nets in Ontario. If this can’t be done, then restrict the use of gill nets to waters deeper than 100 feet, all gill nets be registered and a number attached to them.
