Wheeler family extends gratitude to those who stepped up for son

You folks have truly paid it forward

To the Expositor:

Our son Scott Wheeler fell off a 30’ cliff into water hitting submerged rocks on Manitoulin Island on July 25. He was airlifted to the Sudbury hospital where he was on aggressive life support in ICU for over three weeks. He remains on the neurosurgery recovery floor currently. Reports of his accident were published in The Manitoulin Expositor the week of August 7.

Scott and his family would like to thank the seasonal campers at Green Acres Tent and Trailer Park where he was employed. As you may well know, due to a follow up article in this paper the week of August 28, the folks at the campground turned their annual year end fish fry into a fundraising event to benefit us. We are forever thankful to those who organized and participated in this event. There is truly a deep feeling of friendship and family amongst those at Green Acres. This is not the first time that they have rallied to support someone in need. They are a closeknit group of caring individuals who have the ability to unite and plan to work towards a common goal. We believe this is unique in a campground. These folks truly care, and they show it.

We would also like to thank the many customers of the restaurant at Green Acres who voluntarily donated to our cause. There were many times when the staff were given an envelope and asked to add it to what was being done by the campers in the park.

Although there is no way we can repay them for their kindness and generosity, we believe that every kindness is returned to you in some way. You folks have truly paid it forward. Thank you once again.

We are trusting and believing that the Lord will continue to heal Scott.

Sincerely,

Greg, Sandy, Scott and Kaily Wheeler
