Winter storm watch in effect for:
- Blind River – Thessalon
- Manitoulin Island
Winter storm conditions possible on Monday.
Snow associated with a low pressure system is expected to move into regions east of Lake Superior early Monday morning. The snow may fall heavily at times for much of the day with an accumulation of 15 to 25 cm possible by the time the snow tapers off Monday night.
Strong southeast winds gusting up to 60 km/h will also develop Monday morning and combine with the freshly fallen snow to produce local blowing snow.
Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
Winter storm watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
