Birch Island, Ontario – On November 5th, 2015, the Waubetek Business Development Corporation will host its Business Awards Gala at Casino Rama Hotel and Conference Centre, Rama First Nation, Ontario, starting at 5:00 pm. The event, which is held every two years, recognizes the achievements of Aboriginal businesses in North East Ontario who create much needed jobs and services throughout the region. The gala is also considered a premiere event in recognizing Aboriginal role models.
This “Celebration of the Aboriginal Entrepreneurial Spirit” will recognize four (4) Aboriginal businesses in the following categories.
- “Youth Entrepreneur of the Year” – presented to an entrepreneur who has established a successful business prior to reaching thirty-six (36) years of age.
- “New Entrepreneur of the Year” – presented to a successful business less than three years old that exhibits substantial future potential.
- “Business Merit Award” – presented to business people regarded as significant contributors to their community.
- “Business Achievement Award” – presented to a long-standing business that has provided a major impact in the community, including significant employment creation.
The gala will also feature Aboriginal entertainment from up-and-coming stars in various music genres. Some of the Aboriginal artists supported by Waubetek at this event in the past have gone on to win Canadian Juno Awards. A limited number of tickets for this event are still available for this gala dinner, awards presentation and entertainment showcase.
