GREAT LAKES—The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is forecasting that water levels in the Great Lakes, including Lake Huron, are going to drop significantly below their summer averages for this spring and summer.
Lake Huron, Michigan, Erie and Superior are forecast to be well below last year’s water levels, and all but Erie, will be significantly below their long-term average levels this July.
The USACE in a report earlier this month forecast that Lakes Michigan and Huron can expect to be 10-13 inches below last year and seven to nine inches below their long-term average from February to July.
In the case of Lake Ontario water levels are expected to be 2-6 inches below average between February and July.
