Elections do not seem to change anything for those on the outside looking in
To the Expositor:
This budget that the Liberals presented was okay, I guess. I don’t know if our healthcare will improve or not because we’re always facing cutbacks on our services and having these services is essential for this community.
A lot of people depend on it who are living on fixed incomes, but after a service is cut then I see or hear that somebody has been hired to work and where is this money coming from? Is it coming from the service that has been cut back or is it just mismanagement from the director? We have two health care directors, one for the long term and the other is for the health centre, and I even brought this up with our chief to look into.
We’re due for another election this fall, but I do believe that it will not change anything. It will still be the same relatives and friends that will get the benefits from the new leader—that’s the way it usually is but that happens to every aboriginal community. It’s what you call favouritism. Well actually, it happens everywhere, not just the aboriginal communities.
