WALTER DAVID KOROLEWICH

WALTER DAVID KOROLEWICH Walter David Korolewich, 81, of Mindemoya, Ontario, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023. Wally is survived by his wife Darlene and daughter Melinda Bagnall (Peter), along with his granddaughters Alyssa and Lauren. Wally grew up in Sundown, Manitoba and spent his early years on his uncle’s farm until he was 17. There he learned how to fix machinery, which became a primary passion of his life. After graduating high school he moved to Winnipeg and began his career working in a bank. He quickly realized that office work wasn’t for him so he moved to Sudbury, Ontario to search out new opportunities. That is where he met the love of his life, Darlene (nee Corbiere). With their pioneer spirit, Wally and Darlene moved out west and got married on February 1, 1967 in Calgary, Alberta. They pursued their dreams and created a beautiful life together with their daughter, Melinda. Wally was a man of many talents but he clearly had an incredible skill for fixing anything mechanical which led him to a long career as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright. He also thoroughly enjoyed the great sport of hunting and was an avid outdoorsman. They spent most of their weekends off-roading, camping together and simply enjoying everything nature had to offer. One of his favourite places to be was deep in the forest where he could take it all in. Eventually Wally and Darlene retired near Sundre, Alberta on their country acreage in a little place called Coal Camp. After spending over 54 years as true Albertans, Wally and Darlene moved to Manitoulin Island, where Darlene was born and raised. They made this move to be closer to family, their daughter, and the grandchildren. Wally was known as a man of few words and an excellent listener. The words he spoke were insightful, caring and profound. He was a gentle soul with a sense of humour that always came out at the just the right time. He will be missed dearly be all that came to know and love him over the years. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
