June 19, 1943 – October 29, 2011
In loving memory of Wallace McQuarrie, a resident of Gore Bay, who passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home early Saturday morning, October 29, 2011. He was born in Toronto, (a fact he didn’t tell many people) son of the late James and Irene (Campbell) McQuarrie. Wallace was a furnace specialist having worked on many furnaces across Manitoulin for many years. His quiet, humble manner was a virtue afforded to few. Never saying a bad word about anyone he was respected by all. Wallace had an incredible knowledge of cars and mechanics. He had a love of classic cars and firearms. He also enjoyed Western movies and was involved with the Gore Bay Gun Club. Wallace’s greatest love in his life was his family. His passing will leave a huge void in their lives, but many memories will be cherished by each of them. Beloved husband of Corliss (Coulam) and loving and loved father of Shane. Dear brother of Effie Williamson (Perry) of Traverse City, Michigan, and Leland (Sylvie Kingsley) McQuarrie of Sudbury. Loved son-in-law of Leila Coulam and also will be missed by sisters-in-law Donna and Debra and Corrie’s sisters Darlene Bie (Mike predeceased) and Beverly Kelly (Curt). Predeceased by brothers Glen, Dennis and Jim. Also will be missed by a number of nieces and nephews and relatives. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home after 7 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. The funeral service to celebrate Wallaces’ life will be conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11 am with Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating. Interment in Long Bay Cemetery. If so desired, donations (by cheque only) to the Manitoulin Animal Welfare Fund or Pet Save would be appreciated by the family.
