WALKING FOR THE WATER

0
Walking for the water—The Naadowewi Gichigami (Lake Huron) 2024 Waterwalk is underway, with walkers setting out to follow in the footsteps of Josephine Mandamin and her call to action to protect the waters of the Great Lakes. Waterwalks are an Anishinaabe ceremony, led by women carrying a copper pot and escorted by an Eagle staff. Setting out from the Highway 6 Hydro One station were Natalie Nagonagijig bearing the Eagle staff and Sheila from Fort William who was carrying the pail of water. photo by Michael Erskine
