Mischief at Sheguiandah powwow grounds
The UCCM Anishnaabe Police received a report that some time between June 30 and July 1, 2014 a person or persons attempted to burn down the Sheguiandah First Nation powwow arbor. Police observed that a picnic table and log were ignited within the arbor, but the rain and damp weather limited the damage. This property is of cultural significance to the community and police are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify who is responsible.

Whitefish River First Nation woman arrested
On June 21, UCCM Police were on routine patrol on the Whitefish River First Nation when they observed a 34-year-old woman who was wanted in connection to property related crimes in Whitefish River First Nation on March 2014. UCCM Police subsequently took the suspect into custody where she was processed and released for a charge of possession of property obtained by crime.
The woman is now scheduled to appear in Gore Bay Court on July 28, 2014.
