Two suspects charged after standoff


HAVILLAND TOWNSHIP – Shortly after 12 pm on April 3, 2014, a male and a female were arrested and taken into custody as a result of a police standoff at a residence in the 6000 block of Highway 17 north.

Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police arrested and charged 24 year old Trevor Justin FREDIN of Bory’s Place, Hinton, AB with the following offences: three counts of Break and Enter; one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; one count of Fail to Stop for police; four counts of Failing to Comply with Recognizance; one count of Failing to comply with Probation order; one count of Mischief under $5000; one count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and one count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today in Provincial Court, Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

Sault Ste. Marie OPP also arrested and charged 40 year old Maria Michelle MILLS of no fixed address with the following offences: one count of Break and Enter; one count of Mischief under $5000; one count of Possession of Stolen Property under $5000; three counts of Failing to Comply with Probation Order; and three counts of Failing to Comply with Recognizance.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today in Provincial Court, Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
