Two-lane bridge opens in Whitefish Falls

WHITEFISH FALLS—A temporary single-lane bailey bridge that connected the two halves of the hamlet of Whitefish Falls across Whitefish River has finally been replaced with a new two-lane structure.

“Construction work to replace the Whitefish River Bridge commenced August 8 and was completed December 9,” said Justin Bryant, MTO communications coordinator, Northeast Operations. “The ministry retained D.M. Wills to complete the detail design for the project.”

Work on the bridge was completed by Pioneer Construction as part of a larger $11 million contract that included work on Highway 6 from 2.4 km North of Little Current for 16.1 km and Highway 7041 from South Junction Highway 6 to North Junction Highway 6. Included in the contract that took place this summer were grading, drainage, granular base, hot mix paving, electrical and structural work.
