Where can cautious Tom to turn? There is no party left to be to the left of
To the Expositor:
This will be a tough week for Tom Mulcair. He can run away from Socialism but where can he run to? The centre is fully occupied, even pre-occupied by the sunny ways and great hair of our celebrity PM. The Left has not really any appeal for an opportunist like Cautious Tom. Why follow the Right wingers to their gloomy cave of wound licking narcissists, where he is not welcome anyway?
In the Centre is the immovable phalanx of dominant public interest Liberals. And we have plenty of private interest Neo Cons. What space is Left, I mean leftover? The NDP phobia of socialism rules out going further left. There is no party left to be on the Left. The NDP finds the idea of Social Democracy abhorrent. The Right is ugly, the left is frightening and the Centre is occupied. Good luck, Tom, looking for an empty cabin. But don’t forget if you ever find the stomach for it, the real Left is always open.
