The Creator picked the most beautiful flower from the earth, Todd Eagle Child-Genereux, on December 26, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta. He was loved and cherished by many who had the chance to spend time with him. Todd loved spending time with family and friends. He was the first one to jump up and help, he laughed often and with everyone, built his mom a picnic table, camped with his dad, swam in Georgian Bay and Lake Huron, played bingo with grandma, gardened with grandpa, hung out with his cousins, had life-long buddies, travelled, excelled in his education, and played football and baseball. He lived life, enjoyed life, and made sure everyone was taken care of along the way. Todd had a vision of helping Indigenous people make their land agriculturally sustainable and self-sufficient. His earliest experiences helping his grandpa and dad with their modest-sized garden, and his time working on a ranch led him to realize what he wanted to do. With that purpose in mind, he attended Red Crow College, and eventually, Lethbridge College to take the Agricultural Program. During the summer he worked at Lethbridge Research and Development Center (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada), and then continued as Ambassador with the Lethbridge College Indigenous Services team during the school year. Todd leaves behind his beautiful mother Tina Eagle Child and his father Allan Genereux. He is survived by his two sisters Tanya Many Bears and Elysia Eagle Child; nieces Gracelyn, Sophia, Zoe, and nephews Ethan and Micah; loving grandparents Dan Eagle Child, Blood First Nation, AB, and Shirley Vaillant (Lou), Little Current, ON. He will always be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles, Donna, Jennifer (Clark), Heidi, Aaron (Alicia) Genereux, and Johnathon and Fanny Eagle Child; and remembered by his special cousins Trent, Brett, Holly, Cole, Kristin, Kaitlin, Sophia, Aria, and Arianna from Ontario, and Jessica, Misty, Creedence, Patty, Dakota, Christian, and Shastina from Alberta, as well as many great aunts, great uncles, many relative, lots of cousins and good friends. He is predeceased by his grandfather, Donald Genereux, and grandmother, Elsie Eagle Child. Todd’s service was held at White Calf Chapel, Stand Off, Alberta, officiated by Bishop Sidney Black, and he was laid to rest on his mother’s property on the Blood Reserve, on the spot where he wanted to build his house, looking toward the Rocky Mountains. Never forgotten, forever in our hearts, and a part of who we are.
