Today’s leaders take no responsibility for their watch

To the Expositor:

Former President of the United States Harry S. Truman is famous for having a sign on his desk that read “The Buck Stops Here.” He was a leader who had the integrity to recognize that he was ultimately responsible for anything that happened under his watch.

The sign on Kathleen Wynne’s desk should be of the three monkeys, (See, Hear and Speak no Evil) for she obviously feels that as a leader she has no responsibility for anything that happens during her watch. The numerous policy fiascos during her reign all smack of no one being responsible, nor capable. To sue the opposition for suggesting that she is responsible for what has happened when she was leader just further degrades her office and her integrity as she tries to use the judiciary to block free speech.

I yearn for the days when the leader was expected to have integrity. When the captain went down with his ship because he had integrity and took full responsibility for what had gone wrong. They are a far cry from the lack of integrity in the captains of today. The captain of the Costa Concordia who jumped off the ship as it sank off an Italian island in 2012 and Kathleen Wynne who is responsible for nothing are wonderful examples of todays captains.
