The Gordon Barries reach Movember goal

GORDON/BARRIE ISLAND—After much patience and endurance, and in some cases much pain and suffering, the Gordon Barries achieved their goal and were able to pose for the end-of-month photo with their new moustaches.

Many were happy to have reached the goal of a full hairy upper lip, with a few rather keen to remove the newly grown ‘stache. And in the spirit of inclusiveness, even the municipal staff women employees put in an admirable effort to sport a rather large and droopy number. A few have said they will perhaps keep the moustache and rock a full-time ‘mo.’ But most importantly, the Gordon Barries were able to raise money for the fight against testicular and prostate cancer, having exceeded their donation goal (raising a total of $110).

But on a more serious note, the Gordon Barries are proud to have contributed to the donation drive of Movember. The Movember movement has grown exponentially since its inception in 2004 in Melbourne, Australia, with two chaps sitting at a pub lamenting on how the moustache had fallen out of favour with the general public, and their aim was to reintroduce the moustache to the men of the world who had, for some reason, bought in the fashion trends of the day. Today, almost 20 years later, we are now seeing more men wearing their moustache with pride and men’s health is benefiting from the Mo Movement.
