Love with coffee beans
When I first met you, I didn’t know
The next three years would be so long ago
Such a short time to love and hold
But such a long time to watch it unfold
We laughed and cried and I held you tight
Through all of those cold painful fights
Through your tears, you were able to smile
Keeping us all in awe of this child
I’m blessed to have had you for so much time
All to myself but not just mine
You were a child of love and came here to teach them
I hope that your heart was able to reach them
So many plans we made for the future
In spite of the war we fought with your tumour
My little bean, you will always be
Even though four was as old as you’ll see
For my grandson who gained his wings July 1, 2022.

Our love has lasted through the years
Through clouds and sunshine, smiles and tears.
Good friends, family, well known faces
Graced our home, our lives, our spaces.
And now you’re gone.
I feel your presence always near.
Your spirit, and that face so dear.
The love and memories all, are mine.
You’ll always be my Valentine.

This is a neighbourhood love story and a tribute to the animal loving couple who were responsible for reuniting a family with their lost cat.
Tamarack Binks: A Love Story
Only a few months ago,
When winter winds left us cold to the core,
A fluffy black cat came a wandering,
Up our stairs, ‘cross the deck, to our door.
For days it would greet us ‘round four,
Meowed just to let us know it was there,
Then plopped down in front of the door,
When it moved on, we never knew where.
Turns out our neighbourhood cat had a route ,
Travelled near and abroad to say hi,
Some neighbours must have given it food,
We all wondered where it came from and why.
Though we all fell in love with this cat,
Two neighbours came up with a plan,
“To find its home, as a matter of fact,
We’ll post a picture wherever we can”.
Christine and John went above and beyond,
For this kitty with a penchant to roam,
They performed a Christmas miracle,
Sweet Binks, once our Tamarack mascot,
Is now remarkably and happily home.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

If tomorrow was my last day
to live my life with you,
I spend every waking moment
making all your dreams come true.
We’d live a life so happy;
there would be no wasted time.
I’d hug and kiss and love you
and tell you, “I’m glad that you are mine.”
If tomorrow was my last day,
I’d want to be sure you know
that you’re my one and only love
and I truly love you so.
If I could see tomorrow,
I hope you that will be here.
I want to spend my life with you
and hold you close and near.
I would pray for another day
and hope this life goes on.
I want us to be here together
with hopes that tomorrow will always come.
I want you to know, always, my darling,
that you are truly, my only one.

Rocking Chairs for Two
Stay by my side the long years thro’
The young years have gone; at least we are two.
So busy we were then,
With friends, family and working, too.
Now life has slowed down,
We’ve time to sit, side by side on the porch,
Enjoying the view.
The chickens are fed; the dog snoozing lies,
The laundry is hung outside to dry.
The paychecks have dwindled,
They come once a month,
But the mortgage is paid off, and the kids long gone.
The hair on our head is as white as the snow on the roof,
But we’re still rocking together,
Enjoying the view.
