Thanks to the fine staff at the Manitoulin Health Centre

To the Expositor:

On a recent visit to our cottage on Leask Bay I suffered injuries to my head and knee. Based on an initial examination of my injuries by Kay Hore, a neighbour, retired nurse and our local “first responder” in matters of health challenges, I agreed that it was important that I seek medical assistance in the emergency department at the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current. Thank you, Kay.

The quality of care that I received at the Little Current clinic was outstanding. I want to thank Olivia Ruby, student nurse, who took an outstanding history of the presenting complaint, and Dr. Poenn, who did and excellent (and painless) job of stitching up the gap above my left eye.

For those of us who are summer visitors to the Island I wanted to share with the staff of the Little Current clinic that it is a comforting thought to know that should medical assistance be needed, your competent and humane care is available.

Sincerely,

Richard, Patricia Gallagher
