“Fighting a fire on rough terrain is especially difficult and extremely dangerous”
To The Expositor:
On behalf of the Kleinschmidt family and the McGregor Bay Association, we would like to say thank you to the Whitefish River First Nation Fire Department for your help in fighting the fire on Kleinschmidt’s island property on Friday, June 20.
The crew knew exactly what to do and when to do it so the fire was contained to a very small area. This fire could have been devastating as all of the trees and all structures on the island could have been destroyed and the fire could have then spread to areas beyond the island itself.
All residents of McGregor Bay and areas like McGregor Bay must understand the destructive power of fire and respect those who fight fires. Fighting a fire on rough terrain is especially difficult and extremely dangerous. Those who do this have our respect.
Again, thank you Mike Weichmann McGregor Bay Association fire committee chair
