Paul Bowerman
Incumbent Tehkummah councillor Paul Bowerman is again seeking another term on council. In a prepared statement for The Expositor he noted that, “ratepayers vote in good faith that council will conduct municipal business in a good manner. Depleting or borrowing to complete or start over a project can be eliminated with better planning. Bylaws, motions, or resolutions are made then passed for guidance and protection of all within the community.”
He suggested potential solutions for ratepayers’ concerns. “Public meetings to discuss concerns or proposed projects could invite skilled individuals to participate. Ratepayer’s roads concerns could be addressed with an annual plan of brushing, widening or raising, ditching, followed with a tar and chip program.”
Mr. Bowerman also expressed his own concerns about accountability. “The new proposed December 31, 2014 accounting package should improve municipal accountability and transparency,” he stated. “Council needs to put the cart back behind the horse and refer to the municipal adviser’s advice (a presentation made to council earlier this year).”
In closing, Mr. Bowerman offered “a big thank you to all our volunteers who donate their skill for the betterment of our municipality.”
