Unbelievable little miracles bring tears to my eyes! Looking at the size of the hummingbird’s tiny foot, and she didn’t hum she buzzed quite loudly, unusual you could hear her coming! Just dumped a toad out of my shoe! (Is that 3?) Got a phone call from friend Pat (Falter) this a.m., all is well in her world!
Yesterday I had a “me” day. Of course you are going to say every day is her day, right! It’s true, I have a lot of good ones. I slept late (for me) hurried off to Mindemoya for the kid’s school fair. Saw a lot of terrific exhibits, apparently Poppy- Skylar’s Dog got four prizes on Monday evening, unbelievable!! (Talk about miracles!) I helped Tara gather up the entries, then we went to Soup and Sandwich for coffee, (the best!). I did my laundry, then shopped (actually bought) at Cindy’s Fashions, then grocery, came home sat in the sun and read. Later I sprinkled some seeds down the roadside, checked out the fields of sandhill cranes and wild geese. Went to Cal’s, beat him a couple, back to Mom, beat her a couple, cooked myself a steak (NO LESS) around 10, watched America’s Got Talent, (isn’t it good this year?), love those magicians! That’s what I call a Me day!!
I met Marilyn Merry in the grocery store, she told me the sad news about Jean-Guy Gervais. Sympathy to Jeanette and family.
I was asked to express sympathy too, on behalf of the South Baymouth community.
Although the leaves started to turn early, the damp and drear have slowed them back, there are a few getting quite colourful. The flowers have thousands of bees when the sun is shining; and the hummingbird and bird feeders empty daily.
You know, as much as I believe in the hunting season, it saddens me to hear the shooting almost daily below me here, (the season started early?) and I do enjoy the fly overs and counting!!
Got a nice call from Joyce Varieur at Turtle Creek Lodge (then actually saw her Sunday!).

Thursday evening- Euchre, 3 1/2 tables, Reta was on KP duty. Always fun. Thursday 18th is tournament in Tehkummah, starts at 8. Winners: high, Harold- 72, lone hand, Rose- 73, and 3 lones, ladies low, Annette-55.
Our Red Hat Southern Belles group met at ‘Loco Beanz’ in Manitowaning, Helen, Joan, Carolyn, Laura, Mom and I. Good lunch served up by Annette and Wes. Some of us visited with Helen afterwards, a fun game and we tried to solve a few of the worlds problems, a nice afternoon. Allison joined our table for a little visit.
Dropped down to Cal’s for a visit on Sat morning after a drive into town, he beat (skunked one) me, two to one.
Mom beat me three before I won once and left! After, we went to Carol’s and Earl’s for supper, delicious liver and onions!! Two girls had read my column, came to try for the first time, left, they were backed up with 30 orders. Too bad nothing else was open that we saw afterwards.
I came out to sit in the sun already; it’s 9:30. I knew it was going to be a better day ‘cause I didn’t wake up in pain (well, just a little is good!). I was going to finish my closet; I’m kind of cleaning (?), but ended up getting a package ready for my two great grandsons birthday’s (in Ottawa), a card for Derek in Mackenzie B.C and Jacob’s birthday is today (Sunday). So it’s been an hour of prepping for that, now to figure out something easy to add to tonight’s menu? The bird feeder is empty again. How many are in my backyard I wonder?
Got a phone call this morning from one of my favourite great nieces Reegan (McGauly). I can’t forget her birthday as there is only a week or so between her and Jacob, but she never fails to call with a thank you, and in this day and age, that is rare- and lovely isn’t it? Mary and Jess are here this weekend for Jacob’s birthday. Corrine is back in town at her apt, #2.
Had to stop writing while a bee grooms himself (herself?) on my pages, that’s the second one.
Corrine took Mom and I to Church today! June’s sermon on “How to be content” was just super. There were nine of us at C & E’s after church- Corrine, Borden, Joan, Mary, Quillan, June, Kathy, Mom and I. We just got home, turned around and were at Raymond Chatwell’s 90th birthday party. A full place, all came to wish him well. Great to see Faye, and that nice family, who were kept busy with that delicious looking lunch set out for all to enjoy. The hall was festive in its blue and yellow balloons and ribbons, and all sorts of helium filled reading “90”. A wonderful celebration. Mom, Cal and I just went from there (after a couple of games of cards) to Jacob’s 14th birthday party. He wasn’t feeling so well, but we had a good time. More cake and ice cream. (Green was the cake theme at both parties!). Sherry & Dave, Marg & Jim, Gene & Susan and the Reckahn family (it was at their house), Tara worked. Ray and his mom prepared and cooked, Susan and I each brought a couple of salads (Morden’s fresh corn was a hit); gift opening; a wonderful visit. Sherry had been at camp and Dave at Gore Bay earlier.
Saw a lot of folk at the hall, I hadn’t seen in quite a while, good to say hello again; and on a happy occasion. Pauline brought me some wonderful fish fillets and did a visit (short) this week. I drove down to thank her yesterday, but they were away! (My trick)
Saturday evening C & E’s; Rick, Kathleen, Colleen and Allan were “not” motorcycling. Boy, isn’t it co-o-o-l these days!!
