Tehkummah Talk and Times

News this week from the luxury suite, room 208, Mindemoya Hospital.

You sure can’t be in a better spot, or have a better “ahem.” Staff let me tell you, the nurses here earn every penny and then some! They are all so nice, smiling and kind.

Candace and her dad Art McMurray stopped at my door. He was on his way home. He is going for heart surgery this week; he has been in Sudbury. A cute young lady with them. I’m not sure what day. This is a busy spot and yet I’m at the slow end too.

Susan was going to bring me up on Wednesday, but I rode up in the luxury vehicle. My legs and body were like wet noodles. Talk about were like wet noodles. Talk about lifeless (almost?) Anyway you know how a good-looking doctor perks you up, and the emergency nurse was Connie, so she was my chemo nurse on Thursday before. She didn’t have to explain much. There’s a kind of timelessness in this place, but I’m sure the girls on their feet would not say the same. I usually don’t stay too long, but I miss my cats. Skylar is looking after them for me.

I thank Gary and Lyle for coming to my rescue on Wednesday, for Bonnie on the ambulance and her handsome driver. He did well avoiding potholes too! I was surrounded by family in no time in emerge. Some people will do anything to get attention!

Stephanie, my nurse, I find is a nearby property owner and almost neighbour. Her birthday was Earth Day. I loved the story of how her Dad and 8-year-old son helped her put a camp on her bush acreage.

Congratulations Dylon White! Front cover, very, very nice.

Lyle went with Cal to Sudbury on Wednesday and drove his truck back after Cal had the needle in his eye.

Talking to Susan this Sunday night by phone she told me my sister Peg fell and bruised herself up pretty good. As she says, it’s been a hard time on sisters lately!

I guess the rest of the Case clan went to Travis’ 36th birthday bash? In Gore Bay today. It was to start around one, of course the Reckahn family will have gone (Tara, Trav’s sister). I will probably get an up-to-date tomorrow.

I’m feeling so much stronger today, so hopefully will get home tomorrow. I think it will depend on the blood work! Thanks to the Auxiliary for the goodie bags, so necessary when you come in unprepared.

The crew let me keep my window uncovered. It’s strange just like at home. I woke just before the sun reached the top of the trees. I watched seagulls swoop, two crows landed on the helipad, a pair of ducks flew over and I didn’t miss my sunrise. About 4:30 they unhooked my IV.

It was so quiet I got tangled in the sheets, does that make sense? Watched a beautiful moonrise and last night the clouds fast moving created some beautiful patterns with the moon.

Kim phoned; he and the puppy are gardening?

Derek and Jodi too, Jodie’s dad Don King had a heart attack Friday night. (So thinking of you Don.) He’s in Elliot Lake hospital and said Betty, Jodi’s mom, walked 5 km home?

Heard the girls in the next room discussing the merits of showering when you are older.

A black and white came in on Saturday. It opened up its doors and a tall man got in. A couple of hours later back it came, landed almost perfectly this time, opened the door and let out a shorter person. Now I don’t know how you feel about alien space ships and such, but I’ve been wondering?

They were the same kind, kind of? Golly if there isn’t ice on the vehicles outside my windows, and some snowflakes flying. We needed a break in the weather, ha!

Thank you for all “my” blessings this week. My bouquet of four daffodils (Minis) I enjoyed so much.

This morning the girls are discussing our earth/recycling and plastic water bottles. Hay I agree. We gotta try to save our “planet,” our Island!
