Tehkummah Talk and Times

Missed from last week!

Mary O’Neil called to see if I wanted to go to the Good Friday Service. Lori called in for a visit and brought a pot of soup, smells good!

I just tried on the hats/turbans they gave me at the Cancer Centre, better than bald I guess, but I may not? Lose the hair? Didn’t sound promising though.

Monday, I was talking to Derek, and Kim, morning and evening. They all have their problems these days. But always great to talk to the “kids”. My edges look flowery, and it’s good to have something to focus on. Sherry bought me a bouquet of fluorescent coloured, orange, pink, blue, yellow daisies, just gorgeous. Geraniums so pretty. When I went to the breakfast room at the hotel Thursday morning, this lady smiled and called me by name. You never know folks when they’re not where they should be right. They had driven from Hamilton the day before visiting grandchildren Lynn (she was having her recast), also met Nicky and Art from Gore Bay there too?

Kind of a busy day, I was going to go to Carole’s funeral, I did go in the door, picked up a couple of memorial cards, then went to Mum’s to play cards until my niece Paula came along, then we visited. Mum did beat the last game just barely!

Pat Norton came in to Mum’s to visit, said the music was lovely, and that someone sang Carole’s “Paper Rosie” song, (favourite). Kim and Kathy phoned tonight, they were having their turkey dinner with her brother David and wife Alex. Kim gets his medical results Tuesday.

I got some beautiful cards/notes, I was kind of emotional. The funeral, Seward’s birthday, Peter’s birthday, it’s just me. A couple of calls from Helen O this week.

Hey there are robins calling everywhere, it seems I guess they have all found their way home. Love those red winged black birds showing their colours amidst the regulars and starlings. Doesn’t seem so many of them anymore, and that’s not a bad thing.

Hey my friend said the only thing she found for Easter was dust bunnies! I know what they are too!

Tara and I walked through our little bush this morning, and admired all the snowdrops, not so many crocus yet, but a few small ones. Nice to admire the robins. We sat in the sun and talked to the cats and dog. Mollie phoned from Winnipeg. Sister Susan called. She and Mum were heading for Mindemoya for lunch at the Chill and Grill and shopping. A nice outing, thanks Susan! Met Pat Patterson, thought she looked familiar.

Good to see Jean Case out and about pulling at the “bit” I’ll guess!

Hey, I saw a picture of Don Norton’s hand after he redesigned it (wood splitter style), heavy tool. Careful and get better soon!

Judy Blue, too, picked up some scars I hear. She took a header while away; she and Bob were visiting their daughter Bobbi Lynn over Easter (and granddaughter). Ray was in this evening changing light bulbs, hoping it changes my hydro bill! Had Jacob and Skyler doing fetch and carry too. I’ve had stuff sitting since before Christmas, just took the wreath down?

Well my old friend??? Insomnia is back since the chemo, only one night of fairly decent sleep. I was up at 3am toasting Mums’ hot cross bun, good too!

Mary O and Susan Hart were filling in at the store while Ross and Susan were away at the Sault for a break. Re-last column, I’m always surprised when I read what I write, no “dog” in the field with the deer just a lot of deer. My spelling must of atrocious!

Joy (I met in Foodland) told me Uncle Don (Arnold) was in the hospital.

Got a good report from Kim and Kathy last evening. Things not quite so scary, he was all excited, he’d got his garden seed order from Vesey’s Tuesday.

I coloured some eggs for our cribbage players today. I can’t believe how weak I am. Totally took me by surprise? Nausea also! I guess what the book says is true? Lovely writing Colleen! Good to hear from you.

Well eight tables for cribbage Wednesday. Glad to see folk back, and new faces too. Both Bill and Ruth (McGregor) had a high hand of 24. They got to share. First place, Eugene and Dorothy, ; second, Bill and Ruth McGregor; third, Lori and Rick, 941; low, Buck and Barb, 781; door prize, Ruth (McGregor) and Wayne M.

I found a note in my pocket it says “Murray, Sandy and Arnold” I think that’s from a couple of weeks back.

On his trips from Mindemoya appointments Cal usually stops to say hello for a minute. He had been visiting his cousin Eugene (Pyette) who was holidaying with his daughter Theresa over Easter also having a check up on his eyes in Ottawa. Between Theresa, and Marion, and Blair, his trip home was divided. Simon has some kind of a flu bug, not good, a bad one going I hear. Skylar came in the house all excited on Thursday evening; a car had missed the corner and was standing on its nose, I think down in front of Ross and Susan’s, 10pm to 2 am. I just heard wild geese overhead.

I just looked out into a diamond studded night. Crystals from the new fresh snow fall, a dark blanket full of brilliant stars over all. Cold, but not bad. My, we live in a beautiful world! The cat wanted out or I would have missed it (2:45 am), oh yeah, I also had a half a bowl of soup while up! Every once in a while, I run into Loretta Debassige and we usually have a small visit (in the grocery store). We had so many good visits over the years! She always has her smile!

Margaret Cranston, what’s this I hear, get well soon.

Sounds like lots of excitement at the Garden Shed and JD’s Centre this year, can’t wait! Jerry and Sharon spent time in Florida, things are blooming already!

Mid April we have put a poem in your pocket day! National Poetry month. Well, I’ve just got a brand new book of them out, so? How timely is that.

Tara and Skylar and Gemma came in for a cup of tea this Saturday afternoon. Well, Gemma had a dog cookie.

I’m doing strange stuff, I want to house clean! Not me? Nesting? No point, they took all the repro? Stuff, so here in the middle of the night, I’m cleaning a cupboard. I didn’t have a fever? No?

Pauline phoned, asked me for supper. I seriously considered it, but one of her great-grand’s had a throat infection. Christine was here with Dave, Tatyana and Ava Jean. Snow and wild winds, cold at night.

Sunday the energizer bunny thing stayed until I couldn’t! Cleaned the fridge in the morning, lots of ins and outs airing blankets. Sherry came along to do some cleaning up for me, and when I got home from church, Tara was busy too. Susan took me to church, where the sermon was on “walking” for health and with Jesus! Lots of walk songs included, we went to Carl’s and Earl’s for lunch (sharing food). I invited Sherry and Dave, for supper (same place). Guys travelling together we met there. “Gloria” joined our table for supper and a few laughs.

It seemed to be a long day, maybe, as I was up around 5:30 or so, collapsed in my La-Z-girl when I got home. Hear the snow plow this Monday morning. Day looks good so far, 7am.

Coming up April 22 “Trivia night “ Tehk Thursday afternoon, 1:30 euchre. Saw Chris Bell in at Carol’s and Earl’s, he said he’d found a killdeer in his travels, and spotted a flicker. Well I too saw one on Betty Jean’s lawn!
