Each day is a gift and today I’ve been given the kindness/friendship one. I went to the Garden Shed for breakfast all on my own. Rob Harkes was visiting there with Greg. I asked if he was buying the coffee. Anyway, he bought my breakfast, and I didn’t even sit with them! Next I got a lovely gift certificate from Laurie. So far, my day has been just wonderful. Thank you very much!
The sunshine and love from my cats make it even more so. What more can one ask for? It’s a beautiful day and it’s not even noon!
I liked the positivity of the “Haweater Wannabe” in the August 20 edition of the August 20 paper. Congrats Ray Scott on your nine-hour endurance test.
Thought it unusual when I had a toad story in, with the info on toads on page 16. Actually, lots of toad stories lately, come to think of it.
My morning shot, I thought, it’s time I had a visit with my cousin Joan. Her sis Pat went home to Elliot Lake Sunday evening. Nice visit in her lovely gazebo, with a view of all her beautiful flowers!
Tuesday afternoon I finally made a long overdue visit to the South Baymouth Post Office. I’ve been out of stamps for days! Needless to say, I miss our Post Office. When I get to where there is one, I don’t think of stamps until I get home again and I say “Darn it!” I guess I was spoiled!
We had a good piece of fish at Sharlene’s while we were there.
Cards at Mum’s, I won for a change. First time I haven’t smelled skunk this week.
We had a nice evening at Elaine Bosje’s Scentsy party. She will be the local representative for some very nice products. Sherry from Ajax, with her mom Glenda from Lakeshore, were there. Sherry Noble is on holidays with her parents. Elaine served a lovely lunch after the party.
Tuesday morning—I see the toad this morning hopping across the kitchen floor. I guess he likes living in? Obviously I’m wasting my time putting him out?
Tara, Jacob and Skylar are off this morning for a few days of fun to Canada’s Wonderland (a visit with Bobbi and her family too). Beautiful morning for a float across the Bay.
We had almost five tables for cribbage on Wednesday. As always lots of good food for our treat time. We are always happy to have new players join us. Reg and Sherry (Hall) were staying at the cottage/camp on the Manitou River (near the construction site). High hand, Lois, 22; first, Mum and Mary, 964; second, Betty Jean and Bill, 961; third, Dorothy and Eugene, 921; low, Bill and Ruth, 791; door prize, Eugene and Gib.
I see the hummingbird syrup is just about gone. I just put it out on Tuesday evening. Lots of little critters and are they busy.
Sissy Pat gave me a cute gift. I can’t get ahead of her! It was on the seat of my car after cribbage. The pillow read, “The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you.”
Five hummingbirds over my head debating! Boy, it’s hot in the sun after that chilly night. The tomatoes are ripening fast now, finally.
Cal and Gib visited Lyle and Shirley. Had lunch there (that was really a dinner) and a lovely visit (Tuesday I think).
Still transcribe poetry almost daily. Wrote some long overdue notes to friends and family this week.
Joan came in on Thursday afternoon to visit. She would have liked to go to Glenn Moggy’s burial, as she taught him. She was late getting her hair done. We went to Manitowaning (town) anyway, had a drink and a bite at Musky Widows. Then shopped the Freshmart store, where I saw a couple of Wahls holding things up? Ha! Ha!
Six tables at the euchre in Tehkummah. Ladies’ high, Lyla, 88; ladies’ lone hands, Lovina, 7; ladies’ low, Irene, 35; men’s high, Clive, 81; men’s lone hands, Jim (J), 5; men’s low, Grant, 41. Clive won the door prize.
Darned cold outside this early deadline morning!
I never did tell you how my Monday finished out. Cal called and asked if I wanted to go to Carol’s and Earl’s for supper, and of course I never say no to those kind of offers! Afterwards we went for the loveliest drive. First of all we checked out the Manitou River bridge site, and came to the conclusion it wouldn’t be done by the end of August! Then just drove some of the back roads of Tehkummah. So lovely, and I thought I had been on all the roads in our area, but for the first time a new long road took us to the lake! Lots of houses, cottages, camps. A good road, and I love the three huge pieces of limestone at one gateway! Too soon it was time to head back home in time for bingo. I didn’t win, but what a day full of good stuff. Come to think of it, most of my days are good stuff!
Mollie called on Wednesday morning. On her trip to Winnipeg she sat and visited with a Rose Gourlay, a niece of Uncle Herb.
Sympathy to Marilyn Moggy and the family in the loss of Glen this week.
Have a good week friends!
Hello Ruth Leeson, Colleen Moodie, Darlene Young! All my friends in the nursing homes!
