Sowers of Good Seed

Hey there, you sowers of good seed,

I do love the gardens you grow.

You started with kindness and mercy,

You encourage wherever you go.

You sow extra seed for the wildlife,

Your produce with neighbours you share.

The harvest with gratitude given

To show the whole world that you care.

The flowers are shared, too, with others,

Their beauty a vision to see.

To help someone out in their trials

A spare dollar bill it could be.

God gave us the earth and the seasons

So we could continue His task.

He blessed us with hearts of compassion

What more can anyone ask?

“Do a deed of simple kindness

Though its end you may not see.

It will reach like widening ripples

Down a long eternity.” —Anon

Thank you for all my blessings and kindness this week (always).

Hundreds of beautiful birds are in my backyard to enjoy.

Hey, don’t forget our Sr. U.C.W. Valentine Tea on February 13 at 2 pm. There will be door prizes and draws and, of course, a most delicious lunch.

Thanks, Ross and David, for releasing me from snow bondage.

Once again a great family get-together at Susan and Simon’s. Sherry, Dave, Pauline, Wayne, Mum, Lori, Rick, Martin, and Lynda made me a B.S. heart (huge) card covered with inspirational words and artwork (of unspeakable value). B.S. = Before Surgery. We had singing by all, and guitar music and song by Lori and Martin. As always we had a delicious meal (Pauline and Susan and perhaps everyone) and a circle prayer and much love. What a great gang to be part of. We probably all left earlier than usual because of the snowstorm.

This week once again, I received some lovely cards from Paula (my niece), the Sullivans, Irvin and Irene, lovely note, Earl, Carol, Lorie, and inspirational phone calls.

Mum and I had six games of cribbage. Three before our Meals on Wheels (ham and scalloped potatoes, good!). We equaled out for a change, the last game we both had one peg to go!

Three and 3/4 tables for cribbage at the hall. Jim played Simple Doll, but the extra hand won high (24). So he did okay. Bill and Betty Jean, 948; Jean and Margaret M., 919; Ted and Dorothy, 910; low, Graham and Sheila, 870; door, Cal and Dorothy.

Ross and Susan and her mom Glenna went to Casino Rama to see the Scottie McCreary Band. They had a nice visit with Justin. They said quite a few Islanders attended the show

Susan’s sister, Dorothy’s husband Robert, is in a coma at this time. Hope things are better! Thinking of you.

Friday—“Find your Sunshine,” the mug reads. Thanks for the goodie package and for thinking of me. More special cards and words today again.

This morning Betty Jean, Laurene and Pat (Novak) visited. Pauline came along and visited too. Then we both went around and challenged Mum at cribbage. Every one of us found a skunk or two in the games. Then we made Mum postpone her supper and we all went to Carol’s and Earl’s. Mum treated us to supper. Susan joined us there. She had brought me a paper bag (to cover my head for the trip on Saturday through the snow?). I’ll look like the unnamed comic! Anyway, as usual, we enjoyed each other’s company.

Cal just came to the door today. Said he had a cold. Was I six feet away? Hopefully.

Dorothy made a trip to Sudbury this week (medical and shopping). She saved me the list for the euchre tournament on Thursday afternoon. The next one will be an evening one at 7:30 pm on the third Thursday. First, Betty Jean and Bill, 84; second, Donna and Sharlene, 73 third, Ted and Dorothy 70; low (tie 56 each), Marie and Marilyn and Andy and Wayne; lone hands, Betty Jean and Bill, 7; door, ?
