Tehkummah Talk & Times

That first look in the mirror some mornings is pretty scary, but I look out at today’s sunshine, the icicles dripping well, the air actually warm, and it’s early. My coffee’s ready, I think it’s going to be a good day after first look!

Speaking of icicles, I had the most amazing crystalline ornament hanging from the roof yesterday going many different directions! I needed a camera.

Our church meeting of elders and stewards on Tuesday morning was very beneficial, and I think positive. My usual Uber driver brought mugs and cake and Lynda brought coffee and tea. That was nice. Our expenses have blossomed and we need all the help we can get.

I was saddened to read of the death of Jim Johnston in The Expositor last week. Jim was a faithful summer supporter of our churches and a card player of cribbage and euchre on his seasonal holidays in the Sandfield area. A real friendly guy.

March 27 euchre results with 5 ½ tables: High hand, Gib Pyette, 21; first, Dorothy A and Ted, 955; second, Margaret M and Jan, 940; third, Gib and Florence, 935; low, Donna and Hugh, 838. I thought we were getting the chocolate bars! Darn it! Door prizes were won by Doris, Brad and Sandra.

Only a couple of tables at bid euchre on March 28. I guess the flu bug is in attack mode. First, Laurene, 198; second, Dave J, 187; third, Dorothy C, 176; low, Jan, 81; 50/50, Norma. Lots of fun!

I called Susan in the evening. She was feeling better.

Said hello to Eric and Liz at Ward’s. I hadn’t seen them for ages.

I got a L-O-O-O-N-G card this week, a butterfly (flying free), and my first cute Easter Bunny card. Thanks all! One of these days I’ll write.

First we have to get April Fool’s Day out of the way. Sure hope you didn’t get fooled!

Thinking of Don King who is in Mindemoya Hospital.

Hey, don’t they say April Showers bring something? That could be good!

Where are my birds? Hey, I saw seagulls over the land today (Friday). I mean over the snow-covered fields below me here.

Sissy said she was going for the Blue Jays opener this spring. Wow!

Heard that Gilbert Hall passed away. Thinking of Joan and family.

I should have hired a car to go and visit my sister—or hitchhiked!

Get well to all who are ailing this week.

Monday morning: Ice on the gosh darned windows again. It’s gotta be the Ice Age returning. Some years I’m sitting outside in the mornings. Maybe a blankie on me, but! The snow drifts are preventing me from fitting my “feets” on dry land, so to speak, and that’s under my “edge” too! But, under the birch tree were almost down to the seat of that bench! Could it be I’m a bit impatient?

Hey, Easter Sunrise Service is on the menu, but maybe this year I will actually make it? We still have three weeks (as I write).

Anyhoo—did I ever wish you happy spring and crocus sightings? But where are the birds? Where are they all? Thank goodness for the chickadees, and one cardinal?

My faithful Uber driver said we have lots of time before church as we headed to Fairview. I said “Isn’t church at South Baymouth today?” Was that last week we had the meeting after church? I had my poor driver so confused. But during the debate, we did go for a nice drive. I’m giggling as I’m writing! I’m sure the passenger in the back was amazed, amused, confused? Oh well, I blame it all on my old age and the meeting at our church on Tuesday threw me off. Eric too, so I hear.

Have a good week folks! Keep smiling!

Oh yeah! It was at Fairview!

Talked to Sherry and Sis Susan this Monday morning. Susan is doing so much better. Thank goodness! Paula was home for the weekend. Sherry had been talking to Derek who was having issues with new medication. Jodi is still with her Mom in Elliot Lake.
