Golly sakes alive, a half a month in already. The new year is flying right along. Another beautiful morning, cold, but my world is white and lovely. The house has a nip, so I move quickly, make a coffee, and back to bed. I’ve written a poem; my mind is grasping for lines. Some days everything I read starts me down the path. My week has been full of blessings, lovely cards, notes, and phone calls. Dick Bowerman came to my door yesterday with a wooden fish, and “Jesus” carved into it, and a page listing the things that cancer can’t do!
Wednesday our first cribbage of the year, a good turn out four and a half tables, food and fun, I was tired. Ray and Skylar came around to Mum’s, and drove me home. I was glad for the ride. I guess they lost me?
Thursday night: 7:30 pm, Triangle Club euchre tournament. What a lovely start to my day. I had just got started (kind of) spent too long in bed writing and reading. Carol Lee came for a visit on her way to visit Audrey (Haggart), for Audrey’s birthday, and a cheer up call (at least that’s what she did here). Laurene came in too, while she was here, so I just got my pills into me now, and it’s one o’clock. Didn’t realize it was lunch-time (morning pills). Should have invited you for lunch! Next time?
There must be something about 4am for here I am again writing, I just woke up from my Lazy Girl chair and got my nighty gown on. Is that early or late? Susan had come in about 4pm and took me to their place for leftover meatballs, well it was the most delicious!
Pauline and Wayne were also invited to share, after we had a couple of games of TIKI, Pauline won them both. What a nice time, lots a laughs! Wayne drove me home!
Cribbage scores: high hand, Simon 18; first place, Patrysha and Laura 939; second, Marg and Simon 937; third, Betty Jean and Bill 931; low, Audrie and Margaret 798; door, Patrysha and Hugh.
It’s unbelievable the amount of birds, in my back yard. Ray and Skylar I guess fill the birds’ feeders. I had to bring them all inside on Saturday to thaw them out, but I can’t let the birds go hungry. They are so beautiful and happy.
I called Helen this Sunday AM. Mary called to see if I wanted to go to church, but I slept another hour after that again. I’ve sure gotten good at it! Boy I guess winter has finally made it, but stay off the ice, I’m sure there is not enough yet to hold you.
Thanks Daisy and Robert, how thoughtful. Hey sometimes I beat Mum at cards.
Got a phone call from Mollie in Texas, who is picking oranges and grapefruit in their back yard.
I woke up this Monday morning singing “The last letter,” I’ve been trying to put it down on paper, and the words won’t come (a few so far?).
Scared myself when I looked in the mirror, said “Good morning Witch Hazel!?” (It ain’t gettin better!)
I have to compliment our township once again on the winter roads! Don’t we always have the best road crews? I hear them go by here in the wee small hours of the morning. There has been a lot to worry about lately. Ross, too, is kept busy across the road and with all his duties. Thanks for keeping this spot cleared out!
Friday night we drove down through the freezing rain (nasty weather) to Carol’s and Earl’s for out supper. Calvin, Margaret and Brian, and folk from Manitowaning, braved the stormy night as well.
If I had won the first two games of cribbage with Cal I’m sure he would have quit early, but he won five of six! Next time!
