Tehkummah Talk and Times

My turn to win I guess. Still picking lots of tomatoes. An air of solemnity on bingo. Where was the exuberance and fun?  A bit too quiet?

After our card game Mum and I went to Manitowaning (Town). After the business we had a lunch at Loco Beanz, good food and coffee, nice waiter.

We had heard of Murray McDermid’s death, Gord Wilson’s too. Sad times. Sympathy to the families. We have been surrounded by loss and grief lately.

I like the Freshmart store in town. It’s kind of like my size- though I do most of my shopping at Ward’s. Mum said Mollie is on the Island. She wasn’t at bingo?

Betty Jean and Bill are returned and holidayed out? They went to the West Coast; visited Bill’s family, too- had a great trip.

Helen (Oswald) said her daughter, Chris, was here for a few days’ visit. Had a visit with Joan (eye surgery week), Mollie and Mum, they cooked up Chinese (at Joan’s) we had a get together at Suzanne’s one day- accidently, of course, I got to stay for a delicious roast pork dinner!

This week the Harvest Glory Days came into focus in Tehkummah- looks good too!

I checked out the rummage sale at Knox this week- said hello to Stella who is still waiting for our visit. It’s fun checking things out, especially if you have a purpose!

Wednesday, six tables again at our cribbage. Bill had a call out to round up cattle (coming from the west and all) high hand, Bill (Case), 24; first, Mary and Jean, 929; second, Lori and Rick, 920; third,  Marg (Case) Lois, 915; low, Del called it the skunk with two tails (one game?); Del and Audrie, 825; door, Wooden Heart and Cal.

We weren’t ready for the change. Not just the month end, but the taste of what’s ahead of us, and that wind Wednesday night/ Thursday AM- I was awakened at 3:30 and then again at 5am to the sound of wolves/ and sandhill cranes together. Unusual?? And then again, though it’s hard to believe, it’s only a month until our own Christmas tea, bake sale, and bazaar.

Sympathy to Toots and family in the loss of Murray this past week. He was kind of a Tehkummah boy too. Lots of visits down this way with Rex (Ward) on a Saturday evening.

Mum continued to beat me at cards this week (don’t know what I done wrong) can’t believe it was four years on the third since I had the heart valve replacement. (We are going to try this one again.) Bill and Angela Farkas of Buzzard Creek called at the Williamsons on their way home. It was a quick trip to close their place on Lake Manitou.

Marge and Bert Trudel had his brother Ron and wife Rochelle from North Bay visiting this past weekend.

Monday morning- talked to Helen (Oswald) today; she’s getting better, she says, spent an overnight in hospital for her meds. I guess that’s why she wasn’t home on Thursday morning when I called in. Reports that the Guitar Man show was excellent. I kind of forgot about it? (Mary O just brought the notes in) A short meeting after church- It was worldwide communication Sunday. Linda baked the bread and helped. Corrine is heading back to Sarnia today. Pat Leeson left her sister Joan’s on Sunday. Things were not good in Elliot Lake.
