Taisto is known to many for his lifelong career as a wellrespected surveyor and the immense pride he took in his work. He loved to share stories of his experiences and adventures and had an amazing memory for details. Taisto added so much to our lives, through his quiet wisdom, solid support, gentle laughter, work ethic, love of nature and respect for others. He taught us life lessons to his final days, inspiring us with his amazing inner strength. We are grateful to the staff at Manitoulin Lodge, for the care and compassion they provided to Taisto during such a challenging time. “We never think of what we’ll miss about them before a person is gone. It is only after, in the hollow of their absence, that we realize it is the simple things we crave, like the sound of a voice, the warmth of a touch, a smile of happiness and, most of all, simply their presence.” Jenny Knipfer Healing Hugs As per Taisto’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A combined Celebration of Life for Taisto and Marjorie will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 514 in Gore Bay, on Saturday, October the 7, 2023 at 2 pm. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 514 Building Fund.
