In loving memory of Sylvia Hayden, a resident of Gore Bay, who died on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Mindemoya Hospital at the age of 66. She was born in Gore Bay, daughter of the late Clarence and Lilian (Bailey) Harper. Sylvia was a retired custodian from Manitoulin Transport. She was known as the best bread maker on the Manitoulin Island. She loved Country and Western music concerts. She also enjoyed gardening, pickling, playing cards and of course shopping. Dearly loved partner of Charlie Turner. Loving and loved mother to Ken (Lorraine) Hayden of Little Current, Sandra (Kerry) Chatwell of Gore Bay, Julie (Peter) Varey of Little Current, Cynda (Brad) Bailey of Gordon Township. Survived by special nephews Jerry (Cindy Charlebois) Harper of Little Current and Tom (Debbie) Harper of Gore Bay and step-daughter Kate Duncanson of Sudbury. Proud grandmother of Bradley, Britney, Thomas, Alyssa, Kayla, Trenton, Jordan and great-grandmother of Logan and Brodie. Loved sister of Daisy (Duncan) Hill of Sault Ste. Marie. Predeceased by brother Gerald. Beloved sister-in-law of Peg and Bill Clark and special daughter-in-law of Mina Turner. Dear friend of Barb Armstrong, Noreen Croft and Bill and June Narasnek. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay from 7 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted in the W.G. Turner Chapel at 11 am on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 with Pastor Joel Lock officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gore Bay Medical Centre, Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary, Daffodil Terrace Lodge or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
