Summer passed on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Wellington Hospice in Guelph at the age of 40. Beloved mother of daughters, Emma and Charlie and wife and best friend of Daniel. Also survived by her parents, Bert and Bev Woestenenk; brother, Jay Woestenenk of Kimberly British Columbia; parents-in-law, Carlos and Rossi Leon Velarde of Lima, Peru; brother-in-law, Carlos (Isabel) Leon Velarde of Kitchener; sister-in-law, Claudia (Alan) Luke of Austin, Texas; nieces, Tuva, Martina, Siena; nephews, Lukas and Xavier, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Summer left the Island after graduating from M.S.S. in 1997 to further her education at Guelph University. It was during this period that she met her forever partner, Daniel. Upon graduation, Summer entered Mohawk College, in Hamilton, to complete her education in medical imaging. She loved her chosen career in medical imaging at the Hamilton General Hospital and made many friends. Due to her illness, during the past four years, much of her time was spent at home on the sewing machine, doing crafts with her children or volunteering at the school library. Summer was of kind soul and unbelievable strength. Her continued care will be in the arms of Gramma Sue and her special Uncle Andy. A celebration of Summer’s life will be held at 11 am at the Lyons Memorial United Church, Meredith Street, Gore Bay on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Memorial donations may be made to the GoFundMe under her name or a charity of choice as an expression of sympathy.
