Wood carver Gerald Gerard is caught in the act of reimagining a pine tree stump in the front yard of his home on Highway 551 in Mindmeoya. Mr. Gerard, a retired auto worker, took up the hobby of coaxing otherwordly creations out of found pieces of trees. This latest creation will be hard to miss; it’s right at the street side of his yard and will, when completed, feature sculptures on three sides of the trunk with the bark left on the stump’s higher reaches.
