Spring Bay News

Just imagine, it’s May already! Time flies! Spring cleaning time! The daffodils are blooming…the raspberry and currant bushes are starting to bring forth their long awaited leaves and buds.

Spring Bay euchre begins Friday, May 6 at 7:30 pm. (Note change of time.) All players and learners welcome and bring a friend!

My elderly uncle and I were sitting on our front deck when a young woman in a revealing dress sauntered by. Noting the eager look in my uncle’s eye, I said, “Now don’t be entertaining evil thoughts.” “I’m not,” he snapped. “They’re entertaining me.”

We’re seeing more varieties of birds and we seem to have more loons on the water this spring…hopefully they will stay and nest in our area.

It’s nice to see the work underway for the reconstruction of a part of Hwy 540…unfortunately such work doesn’t extend all the way to Gore Bay. Allow extra time for travel…certain construction sites on the highway are down to one lane with traffic being controlled by traffic lights. These lights are certainly a novelty on the Island!

From the DuPage County, Illinois, TIMES: “The committee approved a resolution allowing James and three other committee members to go to Springfield and discuss the possibility of stocking lakes with state conservation officials.”

It is May – remember spring cleaning – planting the garden – weeding the garden – taking some time off to ease your aching back.
