A community event hosted by the South Baymouth Community Development Association saw a day of family fun in honour of the ferry, capped off with a street dance and fireworks. photo by Debbie Bailey The cast and crew of the MS Chi-Cheemaun ferry pose for a photo following the ship’s arrival at the celebrations in South Baymouth. Let them eat cake! A celebratory dessert was ready and waiting for hungry celebrants. The Manitoulin Sea Cadet Corps were on hand for the parade and posed for a group shot. Car shows are always a great draw and the turnout of vintage automobiles was strong despite the threat of inclement weather. What’s a celebration without some fine art face painting? Georgia and Sawyer were pretty serious about the whole process. Is that former longtime reeve Gary Brown poking his head out of that fancy black car? This float in the South Baymouth parade was a great tribute to the MS Chi-Cheemaun ferry which was celebrating its 50th anniversary of service to Manitoulin. These happy float riders were ready to raise a toast to the venerable old lady as she came into port. Ontario NDP leader Marit Stiles took the opportunity to hand out a certifcate commemorating the 50th aniversary.
