Snowmobile trails open for business, once again

MANITOULIN—With last Friday’s snowstorm, the groomers are on the move again. “The snowmobile trails are back open as soon as either the west end groomer or east end groomer passes through your area,” Manitoulin Snowdusters Snowmobile Club spokesperson Brad Middleton stated. The east end groomer had already made the Little Current to Mindemoya pass as of Sunday afternoon. On the ice, the stake line is in to Killarney from Little Current and is being well used while the stake line to Whitefish Falls from Little Current (through the Waubaneau ) has been in for over week. “The stake line from Gore Bay to Spanish is not in yet,” Mr. Middleton told The Expositor. “They (Snowdusters volunteers) will be doing a check across the North Channel this coming Wednesday (today) to see if there is enough ice to install it.” The Snowdusters were to meet with Sheguiandah chief and council Monday night to discuss land use permission to set up a new trail from Little Current to Manitowaning. See next week’s Expositor for full details on the meeting.
