MANITOULIN—A jubilant Pat Hess called The Expositor offices with the results of the ‘Woodland Animals of Manitoulin’ colouring contest hosted by this paper, Toro Publishing and 4elements Living Arts.
“It was really tough,” said Mr. Hess of the task of judging the entries. “They were all really great, so great in fact that we decided to choose six winners.”
In the end, the winners were selected roughly on the basis of the age of the artists. “In retrospect, we probably should have had age categories right from the start.”
The contest received a number of entries from the daycare in M’Chigeeng, noted Mr. Hess. “We chose two entries that were in the six-year-old group, two from the teenage group and two in the adult category.”
It seems that everyone who participated in the contest has come up a winner. “We have decided to give all of the entrants $5 off the purchase of the book,” said Mr. Hess.
Winners can pick up their books at The Expositor offices in Little Current.
The winners of the contest are Sally Assinewai, Annie Davey, Hannah Gordon, Zada Pierce and Skyler Trimmer, Moxy Manitowabi and Niomi Tomaselli.
“We would like to thank each and every one who sent us a great coloured image,” said Mr. Hess. “We had a very difficult time choosing just one winner so we decided to choose six of them instead. Each winner can pick up their prize at The Manitoulin Expositor in Little Current. All of the runner ups did such a great job that we are also offering them a $5 discount to purchase the colouring book.”
A complete list of the winners and runner ups was provided to 4elements Living Arts and the Manitoulin Expositor and will also be listed on the Woodland Animals of Manitoulin Island Facebook page on February 10.
