Shots fired at pickup on Barrydowne Road

Police believe this may be related to Azilda shooting

SUDBURY–At approximately 11:00 p. m. on April 30th, the Greater Sudbury Police Service received a complaint of a vehicle being shot at on Barrydowne Rd., between Hawthorne and Gemmell.

At this time, the investigation has revealed that a black pick-up truck with two occupants was travelling southbound on Barrydowne when the occupant or occupants in the suspect vehicle, travelling in the same direction, fired numerous times striking the pick-up truck.

The victims were not struck though the driver received minor injuries as a result of shattered glass.

It is believed the suspect vehicle, only described as a light-coloured SUV or van, may be related to the shooting that took place the previous evening in Azilda.

The investigation is ongoing.  Members of the Criminal Investigations and Forensics Units are on scene therefore Barrydowne Rd. continues to be closed to traffic.

Anyone who may have been in the area at that time and may have observed anything suspicious is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

** Sudbury Crime Stoppers is offering a guaranteed reward of $2000. 00 for information leading to the arrest of those involved in the two recent shooting incidents. **
