M’CHIGEENG FIRST NATION—Fortunately, no injuries were sustained but property damage took place in a shooting incident on the M’Chigeeng First Nation last week.
The United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police Services (UCCM APS) reports that on May 10 at approximately 2 am officers, along with the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Emergency Response Team and Canine and Forensic Identification Unit responded to a report of gun shots fired in the area of Pine Wood Park in M’Chigeeng.
No injuries occurred but there was damage done to property, the UCCM APS reports. Police believe that this occurrence was an isolated incident and that there was no imminent threat to the community and the public. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Police are asking if anyone has knowledge or information of this crime, to please contact the UCCM Police detachment.
