Sherry Forest rink wins Mindemoya curling bonspiel

MINDEMOYA—The Sherry Forest rink has won the first event championship at the annual Mindemoya Curling club ladies curling bonspiel held this past weekend.

The Forest-skipped rink, which also included vice Nancy Head, second Jill Patterson and lead Lori Clark, were presented with the Joanne Lanktree Memorial Trophy. Runner-up in the first event was the Mindemoya rink skipped by Marilyn Proulx, with vice Daphne Keller, second Deborah Karn and lead Donna Kenney.

The second event winner was the Little Current team consisting of skip Irene Callaghan, vice Joanne Wade, second Sylvia Clark and lead Mandy Case. Bob Smith presented the Anne Smith “Sunshine Smile Award” to the ladies.

Placing second in the second event was the team consisting of skip Laurie Beaudin, vice Eva West, second Andrea Lentir and lead Donna Vanhorne.

The third event winner was a Mindemoya team, with skip Leila Thureson, vice Lori Gordon, second Janice Love and lead Sharon Watson. Placing second in the third event was Bev McDermid and her team, vice Cathy King, second Patsy Gilchrist and lead Bev Carrick.

A total of 16 rinks took part in this annual bonspiel.
