LITTLE CURRENT—Low Island Park in Little Current was closed to the public Monday, July 11, following a sexual assault that took place at the park late Sunday night.
“There was an incident some time overnight on Sunday that was reported this morning,” said Sergeant Mike Corrigan of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Sergeant Corrigan said the complainant is an 18-year-old female.
The OPP forensic identification unit out of Sault Ste. Marie was on the scene Monday afternoon conducting their investigation and recording the scene.
Yellow police tape cordoned off the entrance to Low Island’s parking area all day Monday.
“No arrests have been made and the incident is still under investigation,” responded Sergeant Corrigan to inquiries by this newspaper.
Low Island Park reopened to the public Monday evening.
