LITTLE CURRENT—Members of the Manitoulin Centennial Manor art class spent much of the last few weeks preparing for the Manor Art Show and Sale, which took place in the Manor gazebo on June 21 and 22. The art show was held in conjunction with the Manitoulin Centennial Manor Auxiliary’s Book and Furniture sale, providing several reasons for visitors to come and see what treasures could be discovered.
Pieces included in the show reflected only a very small part of what the artists have accomplished since much of their work sells as it is produced.
This year, cards were made depicting images of paintings done by residents. These beautifully crafted cards, suitable for framing, were a very popular item.
One of the first recipients of one of the cards was Father George Gardner, who was congratulated with one of the cards on the occasion of the seven-year anniversary of his ordination.
“The card is suitable for framing,” said Gisele Ferro as she presented the card to the priest. The artwork on the card depicted a scene from Father Gardner’s beloved North Channel. “It can be anywhere you want it to be,” quipped Ms. Ferro.
